Central Ballet Theatre is a 501-c-3 performance company that exists to promote growth in the ballet fine arts in Greene County. It seeks to create ballets with wholesome or biblical themes to enrich and inspire the lives of the dancers as well as the audience. CBT provides ballet students various opportunities to use their growing skills in known and original ballet works alongside professional dancers. Open auditions take place each year to allow any interested individual the opportunity to join the company.

Lori Ann Sparks, Artistic Director, founded Central Ballet Theatre in January 2004. Although a young company, CBT has produced nine major productions to date. Known for its original works, the creative talents of CBT come into play as each year a neo-classical work is produced. Stories such as "Deliver Us! The Story of Moses" and "The Story of Esther" bring delight and historical insight into our community.

The purposes for Central Ballet Theatre include performing full-length ballets; performing excerpts of ballets for community involvement; participating with other organizations in endeavors to benefit ballet students, the other organizational members, and the community; and bringing in master teachers to give classes for improvement in classical ballet methodology. Central Ballet Theatre, Inc is the first ballet fine-arts performance company in the town of Greeneville, Tennessee, Greene County and is funded in part by Greene County Commission, the Tennessee General Assembly's Arts Build Communities, the Johnson City Area Arts Council. Performances are produced in partnership with Acts, Arts, and Academia, Tusculum College, and the East Tennessee Foundation, as well as corporate and private donors.
